Richter, Beau
Head Animal Trainer

Beau Richter started at Long Marine Lab in 1997 as a docent in the public education program while working on his undergraduate degree in Marine Biology at UC Santa Cruz.  In 1998, Beau joined the research group called SLEWTHS (Science Learning and Exploration With The Help of Sea lions) and worked at Moss Landing Marine Labs for 4 years training sea lions for a variety of tasks including open ocean free release training.  Beau then moved to various locations continuing his work with marine mammals at Dolphin Quest in Hawaii and the U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program in San Diego.  Excitedly, Beau accepted a position to bring him back to Long Marine Lab in October of 2006.  Now he works for Dr. Terrie Williams as her Head Trainer for the Marine Mammal Physiology Project.
