Go to http://ottercam.ucsc.edu (9:30AM-10:30AM TUESDAY and THURSDAY) after reading more below:Image

View our sea otters (Wick, Morgan, Jacob, and Taylor) from the relative comfort and tranquility of your home computer. Our four webcams are live between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM TUESDAY and THURSDAY.

Our camera site uses ActiveX. I'm sorry about that in the most sincere terms because It means that you must use Internet Explorer. When the security warning comes up asking you to accept the ActiveX control, you must click yes, and then do it another couple of times for good measure. Have patience, and reload the page if necessary.

Note: The Monterey Bay Aquarium has extensive live cameras of their southern sea otters and african spotted-necked otters Lutra maculicollis (the sea otter's weasly cousin, same subfamily lutrinae, however different genus and lacking the premium oceanworthy pelt), among other animals, all of which are supported in Firefox and Internet Explorer using Quicktime. Please visit their website for your complete mustelid fix.

Nota bene: WHY ISN'T IT WORKING?

If you are behind a firewall that filters outgoing connections, you're out of luck. The ottercam system uses non-standard ports to connect outbound. Your best bet is to try this from home or an internet cafe.
